didn't try to fix it

Smitten was having problems last night. She is treasurer for her daughter's Brownies troop (or Sprites, or whatever the hell they are).

She was having trouble getting it to work. All the money is there, but the financial reports that the girl guides use are very specific and detailed about how they want everything reported, and it can be troublesome to fill in all the blanks given that there is often more than one volunteer leader handling money and doing the event level record keeping - plus some bits of paper get lost and so on. Then it gets dumped on the treasurer at the end of the year.

Anyway, she told me about her troubles.

I listened.

I didn't suggest any fixes or solutions.

One step.

Yay, Cadbury!!!!!! I'm glad you made this first step. I know how hard it was for you.

As far as the fig tree goes, I have had the same experiences with Mr. Sign. He doesn't get the nurturing aspect of gardening. I've had to salvage plants from the garbage. It's heartbreaking. I feel your pain and your new found love for your new fig tree.

i take it her response was favorable?

nice work. it's not easy fighting your natural tendencies, especially when those tendencies seem to be the most logical thing in the world.

signgurl: yeah - it was hard. it took concentration and will. really. which is weird.

i don't understand the idea of tossing plants because they just aren't performing to desire. a person has to allow the plant to be itself - it is not a construct. it is a living entity that should grow in its own way.

good on you for rescuing your plants.

----

shortly after we were married we bought a plant. it was a croton - we got it for a buck. we were broke. it was about 2 inches high - it had been taller but a staff at the greenhouse had dropped it and broken the rest of the plant off. it had about 4 leaves. that plant went everywhere - it survived everything we did to it. it didn't ever get very tall (about 12 inches). the kids punches holes in it with a hole punch, the dog peed on it, it got knocked over again and again - but it survived. i was kind of fond of the plant. 15 or so years later stbx-Mrs_C decided it had to go. i said no repeatedly. poof - one day it was just gone.

pissy: thanks - i appreciate your encouragement and the support

terry: her response was non-existent. she was ill, and wrapped up in her books.

but that's the way it should be - it was supposed to be - i just needed to be there for her.
